new pressure’s always rising
tension seems to build and build
mistrust and anger, hatred and rage
do we really have to kill or be killed?

i want to watch my children play
in a world full of beauty and sun
God, don’t you let them blow us away

we’ve got to stop—bury the ax
before we get a Nuclear War

they only tell us stories and lies
fairy tales to keep us down
but in the aftermath of nuclear war
will anybody be around?

nuclear winter and atomic rain
killing everything that once grew
no survivors in a landscape of pain
nothing left of what we once knew
